I found good uses for the junk strewn around our rural property. TV sets make good plant stands for my vegetable garden containers. I used old washtubs and enamel cookware for planting herbs, beets and cabbages. A worn out fiberglass canoe made a fine onion, garlic and spinach bed. A wood bookcase on its side planted in rows of carrots and swiss chard made a raised bed and keeps the rabbits out. Even old tires work well with marigolds and trailing nasturtiums. It really cleaned up my yard and it's useful and decorative. P.S. Broken microwave ovens keep your garden tools dry and handy right where you need them. dalai mama - 5/14/2009 11:41:50 PM

Use a gas grill instead of charcoal
Propane is made from oil, but so is charcoal. The lighter fluid used on charcoal also contributes to the problem, and the burning of charcoal releases more carbon dioxide than burning propane gas (carbon per Btu of gas is about one-third that of charcoal)

"I downloaded the Edison software. It works well. It has kicked in many times when I got pulled away from the computer. You can also set the timings for work and non-work hours."
