2   Go paperless with your money
If you do this action, you could earn another 2 points [add to points]

Signup for online bill payment and direct deposit from your employer (no mailed paper statements or receipts). Avoid taking ATM or transaction receipts. Go paperless on other financial documents, such as: tax returns, company prospectuses, proxy statements, trade confirmations, etc. Contact your local bank for more information [5]

Performing transactions online will also save time, gas (from having to go to the bank) and money (mailing bills or getting printed statements from the bank). If you must go physically to a bank, choosing the ATM instead of a bank teller will use less paperwork (three times less).

Don't use grass fertilizers - Image courtesy of http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/rd/how-fertilize-grass-lawns-for-optimal-health0.jpg
Don't use grass fertilizers
Cut back or curb your use of fertilizers. Excess fertilizer that makes it into our watershed can cause harmful plankton blooms, or red tides, which harm fish, dolphins and other sea life.

"I found good uses for the junk strewn around our rural property. TV sets make good plant stands for my vegetable garden containers. I used old washtubs and enamel cookware for planting herbs, beets and cabbages. A worn out fiberglass canoe made a fine onion, garlic and spinach bed. A wood bookcase on its side planted in rows of carrots and swiss chard made a raised bed and keeps the rabbits out. Even old tires work well with marigolds and trailing nasturtiums. It really cleaned up my yard and it's useful and decorative. P.S. Broken microwave ovens keep your garden tools dry and handy right where you need them."
